CHICbyEVE began about 2 years ago. I started doing it on the side while working as a sales assistant in a boutique. It was purely a hobby to start playing around, creating a site I wanted to see if I could find a good supplier for reasonable priced clothing at a good quality. I noticed every weekend that girls would all compete who would wear what as YDE and Zara were the main shopping spot, and I wanted to bring something different and one of a kind that could only be brought from overseas.
Eventually the site launched it was small time and most orders would come directly to me not through the site as word was spreading within the groups of friends. Eventually I started noticing the site was getting attention and I decided to go more professional by going through Shopify and we started drop shipping. I wanted to bring something to the girls of S.A that they had seen on the bigger online retailers, however were afraid of purchasing not knowing if the product would arrive or the fit, etc.
So I found suppliers who provided the latest fashion as seen on the bigger sites and it went from there. The response was great and the clients trusted me as they personally knew me or had referrals. I had a full refund policy and was very open with the clients. Eventually I had to resign to take it on full time as it needed all my attention and I loved it.
I now have moved overseas to work closer with my supplier and looking into eventually opening up a warehouse where we’ll offer next day delivery with personalised packaging. What started out as a simple online shopping hobby has now turned into my dream job.
