Hi beautiful! My name is Raquel Macias and I am a personal stylist.
More than advertising my brand or my services, I am here, hoping I can inspire you to overcome any thorns you might find along this path that we call life. I recently moved to the US, from Europe and I’m just starting to settle in with my husband and our fury-baby. I’m, originally, from Portugal – a small country in the south of Europe with great food, amazing weather, fabulous wine and so much to see!
I’ve been a stylist for over a decade, now, and always dreamed of moving to the US – and for a long time it seemed nothing more than that: a dream. So, when the opportunity came, we packed up our lives and landed up here!
I think I’ve been a bit of a nomad, most of my life – I was actually 3 years old when I first announced that I would be leaving home and moving 3 floors up, to the neighbors house! I know, right?! Obviously that didn’t happen but I did move a lot and I guess I grew to like it.
In my 20s I became sick and continued to be unwell all the way till my early 30s. I had to go under a bunch of surgeries, during this period, which gave me an entirely new perspective on life and priorities. At the time I was finishing my degree in Communication Sciences and already working. Actually, I had my first job at 15. From a very young age I valued being independent. But getting sick and being forced to stop my fast paced rhythm, made me realized that I wasn’t happy with where I was in life. So, I began to think what else was I good at, that I actually enjoyed doing – and helping people feel good about themselves came to mind.
I was always that friend you go to when you need help getting dressed for something special but, at that time, I didn’t even know that could be a real job. Turns out it could! Having already concluded my degree in CS, I decided to go back to college and got a PhD in Image Consulting, a fashion course in Fashion Styling and all the information I could get on it and, over time, I became a Style Expert. My mission, I feel, is to help women get empowered through their image. Boosting that self-esteem high and get them to where they wanna be in life.
I’ve been doing it for over a decade in Europe and Africa and now, in the United States and all over the world, thanks to the marvels of the Internet! So, gorgeous, if I was able to turn my life around and make it here, coming from nothing and a small country in the south of Europe, so can you!
