My name is Jasmine De Almeida and the person behind MomsFitHealth. my passion for fitness and living a healthy life goes back as far as I can remember, in my high school days I would try to take on as much as I could because I was always conscious about my body.
When I finished school, basically all my sports ended along with it and as a result, I had gained a ton of weight and was feeling rather uncomfortable in my skin. That’s when I decided to properly start my fitness journey, I joined a gym, got myself into a workout program and did some research into nutrition. I was doing great and was well on my way to reaching my goal. From the loss of all my excess weight and my body becoming healthier, I fell pregnant and I had only been in this new journey for a few months. Me being the paranoid person I am, stopped all training because I was worried about my baby. We have all heard stories of some kind when lifting heavy objects (in my case it would have been weights) and to be careful of this or that, and so I also stopped cardio, which in my case was a group Zumba class offered at the gym.
I had done absolutely nothing during the course of my pregnancy, and as my due date came… it went. My son was two weeks overdue when I finally went into labor, however, the doctors had to break my water and even though I was in labor for 26 hours, I needed an emergency c-section, my body was clearly not strong enough and oh how I had wished that I had done something to keep my body healthy and strong. My son came out healthy, and all that mattered at that stage was him, and for me to recover as quickly as possible to be there for him. After my six-week c-section recovery I decided to start a mom and baby exercise routine I had found online to get back into my fitness, it probably lasted a week, if that, and I stopped… started again… and then stopped.
At the end of last year (2018) I started following other moms on different platforms and I was inspired and became motivated to start again and this time to never stop! This is how MomsFitHealth was born, as I myself want to inspire the people around me that it is possible to live a healthy, fit lifestyle while being a mom or leading a busy life. My son is now only a year and a half and he is my main “why”, I want to be healthy for him and set an example for him that anything is possible!
I hope that my journey will inspire many other moms out there, as well as anyone wanting to lead a healthy and/or fit life but feel like something is holding them back. My journey has only just restarted and I still have a long way to go, join me, learn with me and become inspired with me. We can do this together.
